Therapeutic Shadow Service
Mind Center takes great pride in offering a distinctive shadow teacher service that goes above and beyond to provide personalized support to individual students. Our shadow teachers are sponsored and employed directly by Mind Center. We do not outsource this service. Our approach is founded on a close collaboration between our highly experienced and qualified shadow teachers and our specialist therapy team, resulting in a seamless support system that truly sets us apart. When a student joins our program, our multidisciplinary team oversees the support provided at school. This individualized approach ensures that the student’s unique needs are addressed comprehensively, equipping them to succeed in the classroom.
Our dedicated shadows play a pivotal role in this process. In addition to supporting the student in the classroom, they also actively collect and share data with our team on a daily basis. This data-driven approach facilitates the continuous evolution and adaptation of strategies according to the student’s evolving needs, making sure that the support remains finely tuned to their requirements.
We understand the importance of transparency and open communication in this journey. That’s why we provide weekly reports to parents, serving as an additional means of keeping them informed about their child’s progress and the strategies being implemented. Through our unique service, we establish a strong and collaborative connection between home, school, and the student. It’s a holistic approach that brings all parties involved into the loop and ensures that every student receives the comprehensive support they deserve.
What is a shadow teacher?
A shadow teacher, sometimes called a learning support assistant, works one-to-one with a child in a mainstream school in Qatar. The role is educational and therapeutic. A shadow teacher is a trained professional, not a nanny or a caregiver, and the work is planned around your child’s developmental goals.
Our shadow teachers
All of our shadow teachers hold a bachelor’s degree and are sponsored and employed directly by Mind Center, never outsourced. They take part in continuous training and are supported and guided by a multidisciplinary team.
Our goal: independence in school
The aim of our service is for your child to attend school without support. We review progress regularly and reduce support as your child gains skills and confidence. Many of the children we have supported have been successfully integrated into their schools.
Social skills, in and out of school
Social development is a core focus. Our team observes how your child interacts with peers and adults, and introduces practical strategies your child can use in the classroom and at break times. We also support your child outside the school setting, so that new skills carry over to everyday life and different settings. This is known as generalization.
Working together with teachers and parents
We work closely with your child’s teachers and with you. You receive a weekly report, and our team stays in regular contact with the school, so that home, school, and therapy all follow the same plan.
